Zoo Trippers

Lily finds her reflection quite amusing!

After breakfast, we met up with our group in the lobby.

Mark and Kelly went to visit some friends.

The rest of us headed for the zoo!

Wet tiger!

Elephant Eyelashes!

Catherine fed the giraffes.

Cute raccoons!

Adorable red pandas!

Lily liked the zoo. Seriously.

Emilyn, too.

The Last Day in Guangzhou

We are pleased to declare this our final day in Guangzhou!
Tomorrow morning we will leave at 6 am local time in a van to Hong Kong!

If all goes as planned, 31 hours later we will land in Richmond!

It could be a long day.
Prayers are welcome.

I will probably update the blog sometime Sunday.
Until then, enjoy these timeless photos of Jackson and the Garden Hotel.

Jackson likes stacking his toys.

Mom and dad like watching Bones.

Sometimes we stroll around the grounds of the hotel to see the fish.

But we eventually find our way back to room 1416.

Sequestered

We spent most of today in our hotel room, apart from a short trip to Trust Mart.

Jackson had fun pouring out cough drops then putting them back, then pouring them out, then...

This is good advice.

At least one of us was happy at breakfast this morning.

This is what a broken subway elevator looks like (with giant bicycle chain)

Afternoon boredom is exhausting.

We have our consulate appointment Friday and leave for Hong Kong Saturday.

From Wisconsin to Miami

Just a quick note to report that we spent all day yesterday traveling from Lanzhou to Guangzhou.
It was not that much fun. Jackson liked the long car trip to the airport and had no problems on the
plane, but he was very unhappy waiting at the airport and our flight was very delayed in its departure.

We are grateful to be back in Guangzhou where the weather is warmer, the air is cleaner, and the
hotel room is more spacious. We are going to spend most of today waiting in the medical clinic.

Prayers are welcome.

The mountainous terrain of Gansu province

There was snow on the ground at the airport. Nearly unheard of.
It is very cold in Gansu but it is also a desert and rarely snows.

A bit further down the road, we saw many snow makers.

Why you would cover an airport with snow is a question unanswered.

After landing in Guangzhou, the snow was replaced with palm trees.

The city Jackson was born in

The city where we adopted Jackson (province capitol)

The city where we the U. S. Consulate will give Jackson his immigration visa.
