Sophie and Samuel

While I discuss Sophie's future PT plans, Mama Martha knits a prayer shawl
and Sophie enjoys some quality down time.

Sophie tried walking on crutches for the first time today.
It was really hard for her but the potential is certainly there.
Truly, she is so mobile in other ways, it will be hard to get her to practice.

Sophie does love this cool hand-propelled bike.
Too bad they cost several thousand dollars.

Meanwhile, at the Goddard School, Samuel explores nature.

Latoya helps Samuel dunk a few hoops.
No hanging on the rim, Thompson!

Hospitals and Hospitality

Monday we hung out at Carrie DeLille's house while
our house was being nuked by Dodson Pest Control.

Radical hospitality was provided by the matriarch.

I have spent a fair amount of time at The Children's Hospital of Richmond this week.

Monday, I took Samuel to the Craniofacial Clinic where we saw multiple specialists
including ENT, plastic surgery, audiology, speech pathology, psychology, and dentistry.

Wednesday, I took Sophie to the Spina Bifida Clinic where we saw multiple specialists
including neurosurgery, orthopedics, urology, rehab/PT, and education specialists.

Pretty nice integration so far.

Sophie's Progress: She's Not Just Spinning Her Wheels

New PT gadget: the hand-propelled tricycle

We have been impressed with the services and magnitude of cool stuff at CHOR
(aka The Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU)
